A little History

It is a believed that Tara mata was brought to Himachal Pradesh hundred of years ago from Bengal .  The king of Sen Dynasty brought Maa Tara his family deity in the form of an locket encased gold Idol . The idol remained encased for a long time and one of the later kings of dynasty, Bhupendra Sen had a vision  of Tara mata with her Dwarpal  Bhairav and Hanuman Ji . Tara mata said that she wants to have a physical existence in this place . Bhupendra sen donated a vast land area on the name of  Tara devi. A temple was constructed and a golden idol was kept there. Raja Balbir Sen one of the descendants of the dynasty saw a dream in which Goddess Tara told him that she wishes the temple to be placed at hill top. In the year 1825 the temple was constructed on top of Tarav Parbat and a Ashtdhatu (made of eight metals) idol was kept there.
